Sunday Harvest

Our internet was down yesterday, but this was our harvest for Sunday.

Grace and I picked 2 1/2 pounds of beans.

We also picked 1 pound of pea pods and a pound of early peas.

The remainder of our beets – now I can replant for a fall harvest.

The last of the turnips.

And slow but sure the cucumbers are starting to come in. We picked numbers 7 and 8.

The garden is booming and it’s still early in the summer. Tomatoes, pumpkins, corn, potatoes, parsnips, and peppers are still to come. A wonderful bounty, and for this I am — Simply Grateful.

  1. You are so far ahead of us. I was just thinking this morning how the garden consumes our time. I am rather happy we don’t have a second crop around here. We get what we get and that is it until spring. Great post!

    • It is really time consuming. Thankfully there aren’t too many crops that we get a second crop of, but I do love that beets and carrots do because one crop would not be enough for the year. Everything else is pretty well set with the one planting, although already I’m planning next years garden expansion and it will increase nearly all our crops by double. I’m very excited, but at the same time nervous about the amount of work it will be.

      • Ah, next year. We have decided it will have to be a very small garden because we want to be more active in our daughter’s second campaign. Hopefully we won’t be a hindrance. Ha!! Happy Gardening.
