Back a few years ago after cleaning six heads of garlic with my bare hands for a canning project, I decided it was time for a change. For days my hands ached from the burning the garlic caused and they smelled of garlic even longer. There had to be a better way.
Finally in one of my many trips to the gadget section of our local kitchen supply store I finally found one that was perfect: The Garlic Prep ‘n Store by Casabella Gourmet. Although I don’t use the slice/dice pieces that came with this gadget, the peeling piece is indispensable.
This soft, flexible piece of rubber makes peeling garlic quick, clean, and painless.
Step 1: Place garlic section inside rubber tube.
Step 2: Gently press down on rubber tube and roll back and forth.
Step 3: Release the tube and out pops paper-free garlic cloves.
